Thanksgiving Meal for Lynchburg P.D.

Thursday, Oct 28

Providence Veterans provided a hot, delicious Thanksgiving meal to the Lynchburg Police Department. The officers on duty that night couldn't be with their families and we stayed true to our mission by serving those who serve us. Magdala Louissaint, a reporter from WSLS10 News was on hand to cover the story. You can access the Channel 10 story and video here.

U.S. Army Reserve Family Day

Saturday, Sept 22

Our 2nd annual Army Reserve Family Day was a success. Members of the U.S. Army 639th Transportation Company and their family members enjoyed the sunny Saturday and the beautiful natural setting of the farm.

Some took part in fishing, horse and buggy rides, skeet shooting, or relaxing in hammocks while the kids enjoyed a bouncy house, arts and crafts, pony rides, and of course, the farm animals.

Thank you to our volunteers who painted one of our crisis housing cabins and thanks to everyone for a fun day.

Blue Ridge Rock Festival

Sat-Sun, Sept 7-8

Providence Veterans was selected as this year's focus charity for the 2nd Annual Blue Ridge Rock Festival. A large farm outside Lynchburg, VA, was inundated for three days with 25,000 concertgoers who came to see more than a dozen rock bands.

We erected a large tent at the entrance and used the event to launch our CATCH 22 campaign to raise money and awareness to combat the epidemic of veteran suicide.

Volunteers from Liberty University ROTC units helped hand out flyers for the campaign and James McLeod was allowed onstage to address the massive crowd and tell them about our mission and CATCH 22.

We had some great raffle prizes which also helped raise money. It was a success and we hope to be involved again next year.

MUDDER RUN / 5K

Saturday, Oct 27

Our 2nd race was loads of fun and a big success. The farm hosted dozens of participants on a sunny, crisp, autumn Saturday in October. Our 5K course included new obstacles, improved trails, and more mud. We even had a course for the kids. The race received rave reviews, and we can't wait for next year's event.
